SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for February 1, 2016.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KYLE WILTJER, SR., F - GONZAGA
Senior forward Kyle Wiltjer posted big numbers in a pair of Gonzaga wins over USF and Santa Clara. He averaged 25.0 points and 5.0 rebounds to go along with 10 three-pointers. On Thursday he caught fire from the behind the arc on the way to a season-high-tying 35 points that included seven threes.
Wiltjer went 10-for-15 from the field for the game and 7-for-10 from behind the arc. He was also 8-for-9 from the free throw line to go along with five rebounds, two assists and a block. Then on Saturday, he made three more three-pointers and scored 15 points on 6-for-14 shooting. He grabbed five more rebounds and had a season-high four assists with another block. For the week, he made 16-of-29 (.552) from the field, 10-of-17 (.588) from the behind the arc and 8-of-10 (.800) from the free throw line.
