BELMONT, Calif. - It was a historic day at the 2009 WCC Women's Cross Country Championships as San Francisco landed four runners in the top 10 to take home its first conference championship in school history.

In addition, Santa Clara junior Stephanie Wilson tied the WCC course record with a time of 20:32 to win the women's title, claiming Santa Clara's first-ever cross country title on either side.

The Dons, led by sophomore Hillary Kigar who finished fourth with a time of 21:22, totaled 45 points to edge second place Loyola Marymount (52) in the fourth closest finish in the 25 years of the championship. Portland finished third with 64 points, followed by Santa Clara with 97 points. Rounding out this year's championship was Pepperdine in fifth with 129 points, followed by Gonzaga (134), San Diego (149), and Saint Mary's (243).

Loyola Marymount freshman Sheree Shea finished second with a time of 21:11 to take home the Freshman of the Year award, while San Francisco Head Coach Helen Lehman-Winters was named the WCC Coach of the Year.
