SAN BRUNO, CALIF. -- The West Coast Conference has announced its 2011 Cross Country All-Academic team. A total of six runners from last year's All-Academic team are making a repeat appearance on this year's selection list. There are also six all-academic selections that earned All-WCC status at the 2011 Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 29 at the Crystal Springs Course in Belmont, Calif.

"As a conference, we are very proud to celebrate the academic achievements of these student-athletes," said WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich. "After a highly competitive championship event last weekend at Crystal Springs, seeing some of those top finishers on the all-academic list truly exemplifies the dedication of these runners both on the course and in the classroom."

BYU senior Miles Batty was selected to the Cross Country All-Academic Team. Batty won the 2011 WCC Cross Country Championships individual title on Saturday, October 29, shattering the course record with a time of 23:47 in the 8K. Batty's teammate, sophomore Alden Bahr, also earned All-Academic status to go along with his seventh-place finish at the WCC Championships. Portland junior Lars Erik Malde, a 2010 WCC All-Academic selection, finished ninth at the WCC Championships with a time of 24:32 in the 8K.

Loyola Marymount redshirt-senior Tara Erdmann, the WCC's first three-time individual champion at the Cross Country Championships, was named to the All-Academic team for the second year in a row. BYU senior Katy Andrews finished fourth at the 2011 Championships and earned All-WCC recognition in addition to an All-Academic team selection. Portland junior Merit Tegelaar paced Portland with an 8th-place finish at 2011 WCC Championships.
