WCC Announces 2017 Men’s Cross Country All-Academic Team

Nov. 22, 2017

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The 2017 West Coast Conference All-Academic team features three repeat performances, including San Francisco’s Mohamed Aziz who made his third straight All-Academic appearance after placing eighth at the WCC Championship.

Aziz was one of three Dons runners to make the list. BYU, who finished third at the NCAA National Championship in Louisville, followed with two runners: Clayton Young and Brayden McLelland, who made the WCC First and Second Teams respectively. Five runners also made their All-Academic debuts, led by Phillip Fishburn of Gonzaga who earned a 3.98 GPA.

All told, 30 student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher and 20 of those exceeded a 3.75.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
