COMPLETE BASEBALL SCHEDULE

SAN BRUNO, Calif -- The West Coast Conference announced its 2018 baseball schedule Wednesday, leading up to what promises to be another highly competitive season. Each team will play a 27-game conference schedule, consisting of one three-game series against every WCC team. Conference play will begin March 15, 2018 and conclude on May 20, 2018.

2017 WCC Tournament champion BYU earned the conference’s automatic bid to last year’s NCAA Tournament, competing in the Stanford Regional against Sacramento State, No. 8 national seed Stanford and College World Series participant Cal State Fullerton.

Five teams tallied WCC winning records last year, marking the seventh consecutive year five or more teams finished conference play with a mark at or above .500. Of those five teams, three - Loyola Marymount, BYU and Gonzaga - shared the regular season conference title. It was the second consecutive three-way tie for the regular season WCC crown and the second consecutive tie for both BYU and Gonzaga.

The 2018 conference slate will begin March 15 as regular season co-champions Loyola Marymount and BYU begin a three-game series in Provo, Utah.

The Cougars will host three of their first four conference opponents, including a WCC championship game rematch with Gonzaga beginning March 22. The matchup pits 2017 Coach of the Year Mark Machtolf of Gonzaga against 2017 WCC Defensive Player of the Year Daniel Schneemann of BYU.

Preseason All-Americans will go head to head beginning April 13 when Saint Mary’s travels to San Diego. Gaels designated hitter Kevin Milam and Toreros pitcher Nick Sprengel were tabbed preseason All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

The Toreros, who will look to make it six 30-win seasons in the past seven years, entered Collegiate Baseball’s “Fabulous 40” Preseason Poll at No. 31 with 417 votes.

The West Coast Conference Baseball Tournament will return to Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton, California, taking place May 24 through May 26.
