SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- With the 2011 baseball season in full swing and the regular seasons for the winter sports complete, the West Coast Conference is pleased to announce its WCC Rawlings Player and Pitcher of the Week.
Rawlings Player of the Week
Alex Guthrie, Loyola Marymount, INF, JR
Junior Alex Guthrie hit .529 over the week, finishing 9-for-17 with four doubles, four runs scored and eight RBI. The native of Sunnyvale, Calif. slugged .765 and reached at a .529 clip. Guthrie hit safely in each of the four games, extending his hitting streak to eight straight games. LMU's third baseman in every game so far this year collected multiple hits in each of the final three games against the Mustangs, including a career-high tying three hits on Saturday in game one and three more in the series finale. Guthrie posted a pair of doubles in both of the final games, including notching a career-high five RBI on Sunday. The five RBI are the most for a Lion player since Ryan Hawthorne had five at Portland on April 18, 2010.

Rawlings Pitcher of the Week
Matt Hiserman, San Francisco, RHP, SR
During the Cal Baseball Classic this weekend, senior Matt Hiserman totaled a win and a save and gave up just two hits in nine innings of work. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning against UCSB to preserve the Dons' 3-2 win and earned his first save of the season. On Sunday morning, Hiserman threw eight scoreless innings and gave up just two hits to lead USF it's first shutout of the season by way of a 4-0 win against Louisiana-Lafayette.
