Pepperdine's Qsar Leads Trio of WCC All-Americans

COLLEGIATE BASEBALL ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - West Coast Conference Player of the Year Jordan Qsar of Pepperdine led a trio of WCC baseball student-athletes on Collegiate Baseball’s All-American Teams. Qsar, recognized as a utility player on the First Team, was joined by San Francisco infielder Michael Perri on the Third Team and Saint Mary’s right-handed pitcher Ken Waldichuk on the Second Team. Qsar and Perri were both selected in this year’s MLB Draft.

This is the third straight year that three WCC baseball student-athletes have been tabbed All-Americans.


 

 

MICHAEL PERRI, SAN FRANCISCO - INF - THIRD TEAM - COMPLETE RELEASE

The senior had an impressive final season on the Hilltop, leading the team in multiple offensive categories including batting average (.336), at-bats (232), hits (78), doubles (22), home runs (9), RBIs (46), and slugging percentage (.547). Perri ranks amongst the top five in the West Coast Conference in batting average, slugging percentage, hits, home runs and RBIs.

JORDAN QSAR, PEPPERDINE - UTILITY - FIRST TEAM - COMPLETE RELEASE

Qsar had a career year in which he hit .271 overall, and .330 in West Coast Conference play. He had 13 home runs, 12 doubles and 63 RBI on the year while playing a mix of center and right field. On the mound, Qsar was the de facto closer for the Waves, racking up an ERA of 3.44 to go along with seven saves and nine strikeouts in 18.1 innings. Qsar is the 37th All-American in program history and the first since A.J. Puckett in 2016.

KEN WALDICHUK, SAINT MARY’S - LHP - SECOND TEAM - COMPLETE RELEASE

Waldichuk finished his first year in the starting rotation winning the West Coast Conference’s pitching Triple Crown, leading the conference in ERA (2.05) and strikeouts (118), and tying for the conference lead in wins with eight. Waldichuk posted seven double-figure strikeout games, including three in conference play. He mowed down a career-high 14 versus San Francisco on April 8 and had two other games with 12 strikeouts. Twice he held opponents to just two hits in his starts while starting the year 6-1 with a miniscule 1.15 ERA in his first nine starts.

In addition to the trio of All-Americans, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper also recognized a handful of WCC student-athletes as Freshman All-Americans.
