SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The wait is finally over, as the 2012 Zappos.com WCC Basketball Championships begin Wednesday night from the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

WCC QUICK HITS

  • Saint Mary's junior guard Matthew Dellavedova is the West Coast Conference Player of the Year, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches. Dellavedova is the second straight Gael to earn that honor (Mickey McConnell, 2011).

  • Gonzaga senior center Rob Sacre is the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, and freshman teammate Kevin Pangos is the Newcomer of the Year.

  • LMU head coach Max Good was voted WCC Coach of the Year by his peers. It's the first such honor for Good, who is the first Lions' coach to win that award since John Olive in 1996. Saint Mary's has won its first outright WCC regular season title since 1989.

  • The top seed has won the WCC Tournament only once in the last four years (Gonzaga, 2009).

  • Only eight Division I teams have won at least 25 games in each of the last four seasons. Three of those teams (BYU, Gonzaga, Saint Mary's) call the WCC home. Saint Mary's has already won 25 games this season, and Gonzaga and BYU each enter the tournament sitting on 24.

  • WCC Live, the popular Internet talk show, will broadcast live from the concourse of the Orleans Arena leading up to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship. The show will feature live player and coach interviews.
