West Coast Conference Enhances Fan Amenities for 2011 Zappos.com WCC Basketball Championships

SAN BRUNO, Calif. ---- Fans attending this week's 2011 Zappos.com West Coast Conference Basketball Championships at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas can follow the game in greater detail thanks to two new features being introduced by the WCC.
The WCC has teamed with SmartBug radio to provide fans with the real-time radio broadcasts from all eight schools during every game of this year's championships. Fans who purchase the three-channel SmartBug Personal Listening device from merchandise stands at the Orleans Arena can also hear the national radio call provided by the WCC and its broadcast partners for all 14 men's and women's contests. With the addition of SmartBug, WCC fans can now enjoy the same listening experience available to people who attend the NCAA Final Four and many other major sporting events. This enables fans to listen to the same broadcasters who've covered their favorite teams all year long and to whom they've come to trust for accurate descriptions along with timely analysis.
"These new technologies will help us improve upon the in arena experience for all our WCC basketball fans," said WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich. "I am confident our fans will be pleased with the increased access to dynamic, personalized game statistics and audio broadcasts."
SmartBugs can be purchased for $15 (three-channel model) or 12 each (two-channel model, features only school's radio calls). SmartBug provides a radio feed to fans via pocket-sized listening devices in the Orleans Arena seating bowl, luxury suite, and concourse areas. Each radio comes with batteries and a headset included.
In addition to carrying every game during the 2011 Zappos.com WCC Basketball Championships, fans that purchase the three-channel SmartBug can listen to WCC Live on each day of the tournament between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. (4:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday). Jeff Lampe hosts WCC Live with a comprehensive look at what's happening on the court each day. WCC Live includes interviews with WCC media members, coaches and student-athletes. WCC Live is also available via the Internet at blogtalkradio.com/wccsports.
The WCC is also introducing a live mobile stats application during this year's 2011 Zappos.com WCC Basketball Championships in partnership with statbroadcast.com. Fans can visits WCCstats.com from their smart phone to view a full box score of every game as it happens.
