COMPLETE SAINT MARY'S RELEASE

LOS ANGELES —
Gaels’ center Jock Landale has been named to the John R. Wooden National Ballot today, which features 15 of the country’s best men’s college basketball players. The Wooden Award National Advising Board will then choose 10 of the candidates for the Wooden All-American Team and a finalist for the coveted Wooden Award, considered as one of the most prestigious honors in college basketball.

Landale has seven 30-point games this season and is ninth in the NCAA with 17 double-doubles. The Aussie led the conference in points (21.5), rebounds (10.2), field-goal percentage (64.2), defensive rebounds (7.5) and double-doubles (17). Landale is the only center to be named to this year’s Wooden Award National Ballot.

Saint Mary’s is 27-4 this season with Landale guiding the offense and the team is only three victories away from breaking the all-time school record for wins in a season (29).
