Angelo Caloiaro moved into a starting role for the Dons last season and enjoyed a solid sophomore campaign, ranking third on the team in scoring with 9.2 points per game. Caloiaro established himself as one of the best three-point shooters in the conference, knocking down 55 threes on the season, while shooting at a 49.1 percent clip from beyond the arc.
San Francisco ended its season with an 84-76 loss to Loyola Marymount in the quarterfinals of the Zappos.com WCC Basketball Championships.
The Dons finished the season tied with LMU for fourth place in the WCC regular season standings.
USF will need to replace the scoring and rebounding void left be graduating senior Dior Lowhorn, who was named to the All-WCC first team for the third consecutive season in 2010. For his career, Lowhorn topped 2,000 points, finishing with 2,003. The fifth-year senior scored 230 as a true freshman at Texas Tech in 2005-06. Lowhorn finished his career ranked fourth on the Dons' all-time scoring chart with 1,773 points.
USF's seven WCC wins are the most since going 8-6 in 2007.
Rex Walters picked up his 50th career victory and first against a ranked opponent last season in the Dons' 81-77 overtime victory against No. 8 Gonzaga.
Junior forward Angelo Caloiaro provided the Dons with a big lift last season, ranking third on the team in scoring with 8.9 ppg. Caloiaro developed into one of the top three-point shooters in the conference, knocking down .491 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Junior guard Rashad Green, a transfer from Manhattan, had a solid first season on the Hilltop, averaging 6.7 ppg to go along with 4.2 rpg. Green had one of his best games of the season in the Dons' win over Gonzaga, tossing in 15 points and grabbing four rebounds in the victory over the Zags.
The Dons will look to senior center Moustapha Diarra and sophomore forward Perris Blackwell for points and rebounds in the paint. Both players averaged 6.3 ppg last season, their first in the Green and Gold, while Blackwell ranked second on the team with 4.4 rpg and Diarra added 3.0 rpg.
The Dons will be one of the younger teams in the WCC with 10 underclassmen, including seven freshmen, and just three upper classmen.
