Gonzaga's Zach Norvell Jr. Named WCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Freshman guard scored 21 second half points in first career start vs. No. 25 Creighton
SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has named its Men's Basketball Player of the Week for December 4, 2017.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK -- ZACH NORVELL JR., FR., G -- GONZAGA
Freshman guard Zach Norvell Jr. had the two best games of his young career scoring 38 points in two games, including a career high 21 versus No. 25 Creighton. Norvell opened the week with a 17-point, 4-rebound effort against Incarnate Word and chipped in five assists off the bench. Norvell connected on 7-of-10 from the field and 2-for-5 from beyond the arc.
Norvell had a huge game against the Jays, scoring 21 points -- all coming in the second half -- on 7-of-13 from the field with four 3-pointers as a halftime deficit turned into a rout against a top-25 team. Norvell added six rebounds with three assists in 34 minutes in his first career start for the Zags.
For the week, Norvell Jr. averaged 19 points on .609 from the field including .400 (6-15) from beyond the arc to go along with 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.
