SAN BRUNO, CA -- Saint Mary's College has been selected as the favorite to win the West Coast Conference men's golf championship in a preseason poll of the WCC's eight head coaches. The Gaels received four first place votes in the poll (coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team). Loyola Marymount, SMC and San Francisco have multiple selections on the Preseason All-WCC Team.

San Diego was picked to finish second with 32 points as voted on by the WCC golf coaches. The Toreros return senior Alex Ching, the 2011 WCC Player of the Year. Ching shot a -4 at last year's WCC Golf Championships, tying with San Francisco's Taylor Travis for the conference's top score.

San Francisco, the 2011 WCC champions, was picked to finish third. Junior Taylor Travis, the 2011 WCC individual champion, was selected to the All-West Coast Conference preseason team.
