PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Gonzaga University's men's golf team finished tied for ninth at the St. John's Treasure Coast Classic held at the P.G.A. Country Club.
The Bulldog men shot a 320-311 for a 36-hole total of 631 to tie Saginaw Valley State University for ninth. St. Louis University took the team title with a 602 for a 5-stroke victory over Nova Southeastern University.
The Bulldogs Souta Nozaka finished in a five-way tie for 12th at 152. After an opening-round 81, Nozaka came back for a 71 over the par 72, 6,906-yard layout. Ryan Fritz tied for 19th with a 154 and Matt Munroe tied for 22nd with a 155.
Michael Welch of Johnson and Wales University of North Miami, Fla., took medalist honors with a 36-hole total of 146 to defeat Evan Frederick of St. Louis by one stroke.
