No. 39 BYU, Pepperdine's McCarthy Advance to NCAA Championships

NCAA REGIONAL RESULTS | PEPPERDINE RELEASE

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -
No. 39 BYU turned in a solid final day at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club to punch their ticket to the NCAA Championships May 25-30 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. With a tie for second at 13-under 851, this marks the second consecutive season a West Coast Conference men's golf team has advanced to the Championships.

After finishing day one tied for ninth, BYU carded a 278 on each of the final 18 holes to crack the top five and advance. The Cougars tallied 48 birdies for the Regional, with WCC Player of the Year Patrick Fishburn accounting for a Regional-high 15 of them.

Fishburn paced the Cougars in Norman, locking up a trip to Stillwater as an individual with a second place finish at 10-under 206. The All-WCC selection and Ben Hogan Award watch list member turned in a 3-under 69 on the final day of the regional after shooting 6-under 66 on day two. Joining him in the top 20 were Peter Kuest at 6-under 66 (T-5th) and Rhett Rasmussen at even-par (T-17th).

Pepperdine's Josh McCarthy will also be heading to the NCAA Championships, tying for fifth and breaking a tie with Kuest after holding on to finish the third round at 1-under 71. McCarthy also tallied 15 birdies and was third in par-4 scoring at 3.80.
