WCC Pair Named Scholar All-Americans

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Two West Coast Conference student-athletes earned Scholar All-America honors Wednesday morning, as announced by United Soccer Coaches. Leon Schwarzer of San Francisco and Bri Visalli of Pepperdine, both of whom took home 2017 WCC Player of the Year honors for men's and women's soccer, respectively, were recognized. 

Schwarzer and Visalli were also named to the Scholar All-West Region Teams, with Visalli making the First Team. Joining them were Wouter Verstraaten of Pacific and Third Team-member Emma Tyrnauer of Loyola Marymount.

Schwarzer sported an impressive 3.96 GPA to land on United Soccer Coaches' Scholar All-American Second Team. The international business major, who made his way to USF by way of Munster, Germany, was named 2017 WCC Player of the Year while appearing on the All-WCC First Team and WCC All-Academic First Team. Schwarzer recorded six goals and nine assists in his senior season.

BRI VISALLI, SR., M/F -- PEPPERDINE
Visalli excelled both on the pitch and in the classroom, earning WCC Player of the Year and an All-American nod after leading the conference in several major categories while carrying the Waves to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Visalli, an economics major, posted a 3.81 GPA.
