Santa Clara's Erik Hurtado Named WCC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

ERIK HURTADO, JR., F, SANTA CLARA Santa Clara All-WCC junior forward Erik Hurtado is the WCC Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the second time in a row. Trailing by a goal against No. 14 California Friday, the junior from Beaverton, Ore. assisted in the equalizer, then scored the go-ahead goal prior to halftime to propel the Broncos to a 4-2 victory - Santa Clara's first road win in Berkeley since 1980. Hurtado, who won the award last week, continues to lead the league in most every offensive categories. Looking to repeat as league champs, Santa Clara is off to a 4-1-1 start and sits atop the WCC standings. Also nominated: Doug Herrick, SMC; Brendan Roslund, USF WCC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
