Portland's Steven Evans Named WCC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

WCC on Twitter | WCC on Facebook SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has announced its men's soccer Player of the Week award-winner for September 26, 2011. STEVEN EVANS, SO., MF, PORTLAND Portland sophomore midfielder Steven Evans returned from injury to score three goals and hand out two assists as the Pilots won all three games last week. Evans, who missed the first five games of the season, scored the game-winner in his 2011 debut on Wednesday night to hand the Pilots a 1-0 win at Washington. Evans' goal against the Huskies came with just 56 seconds remaining in regulation. He then earned Husky Fever Classic Offensive MVP honors as the Pilots defeated No. 20 Alabama Birmingham 3-2 in Seattle on Friday and Houston Baptist 3-1 on Sunday. He had an assist against the Blazers, and he had two goals and an assist against HBU. With just three games under his belt, Evans already leads the team in both goals and points.
