BYU, Portland Claim Debut Men's Tennis Weekly Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named Portland senior Michail Pervolarakis the West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week and the Brigham Young duo of Sean Hill and Jeffrey Hsu the Doubles Team of the Week.

Pervolarakis posted a pair of impressive wins at the top of the lineup as the Pilots recorded wins over Princeton and Portland State last weekend. In a matchup of two ranked players, No. 18 Pervolarakis posted a comeback win over No. 114 Ryan Seggerman of Princeton on Friday by a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 margin. Pervolarakis then beat Nathan Boniel of Portland State in straight sets on Saturday to improve to 4-0 in dual singles action this spring. 

At No. 1 doubles, Sean Hill and Jeffrey Hsu of BYU defeated No. 53 duo Tim Handel and Ruben Montano of Northern Arizona 6-3 to open the week. Not only did they come out victorious Friday night, but they were also the only BYU doubles team to win against Boise State on Saturday when they defeated Kyle Butters and Jack Heslin 6-4.
