SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Portland junior Michail Pervolarakis capped a record-breaking season for the Pilots by being named the 2017 WCC Player of the Year, Damon Kesaris of Saint Mary's is the conference Freshman of the Year and Portland head coach Aaron Gross was selected as the WCC Coach of the Year, the conference office announced Wednesday.

A total of 19 singles student-athletes and 11 doubles teams were recognized as All-Conference honorees. All three individual awards - along with the All-West Coast Conference Teams - were voted on by the league's 10 head coaches.

Pervolarakis becomes the first Portland men's student-athlete to earn either of the conference's top honors after the junior went 17-2 on the year playing at No. 1 singles, including a 7-1 mark against conference competition.

Kesaris is the first Gael to earn one of the conference's top honors since Saint Mary's had consecutive Freshmen of the Year picks in the inaugural season of the award in 2000 (Thomas Burgemeister) and the following year in 2001 (Frank Schmitt). The South Africa native went 10-5 on the year with a 7-2 mark at No. 1 singles and a 3-3 mark at No. 2 singles. He was undefeated against conference competition with a 4-0 record.

Gross earns his second Coach of the Year honor after leading Portland to the first regular season title in program history. The Pilots went 18-2 on the year and 8-1 in WCC play, surpassing the previous program-best finish of third place that has been achieved four times.

The men's teams will kick off the WCC tennis championships on Thursday, April 28 with the first serve at 10 a.m.
