Gonzaga's Sunny Greinacher Named WCC Player of the Week
Jan. 13, 2014
SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference has named its Women's Basketball Player of the Week for January 13, 2014.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - SUNNY GREINACHER, JR., F, GONZAGA
Greinacher began the week scoring a game-high 20 points - hitting 8-of-13 from the field and 4-of-5 free throws - to go along with seven rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals in GU's 68-42 victory over BYU. It was Greinacher who took over in the final four minutes of the first half and allowed Gonzaga to go into the locker room up 33-21. She scored the Bulldogs final nine points, including an old-fashioned 3-point play with 10 seconds left that gave the Bulldogs the 11-point advantage.
The forward followed her opening weekend performance scoring 14 points - hitting 5-of-7 from the floor and all four free throws - and added five rebounds and one steal in Gonzaga's 29-point victory over No. 24 San Diego. Greinacher again had a strong opening first half, scoring 12 of her 14 points (and only missing one field goal attempt) to help the Zags blow open a 50-27 halftime edge.
This is the second WCC Player of the Week honor for Greinacher this season.
