Gonzaga's Haiden Palmer Named WCC Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for January 27, 2014.

Palmer began the week recording her second 30-plus point game of the season, scoring a career-high 32 points in Gonzaga’s 91-82 overtime victory at Loyola Marymount University. She joined five other Zag players to have scored 32 points in a game – which is the sixth highest point total in program history. She matched a career-high 14 field goals in the victory – including two 3-pointers – and sank 2-of-3 free throws. Seventeen of her points came in the opening stanza, while five of her points came in the crucial overtime. Palmer also made three steals and grabbed seven boards – three of which were offensive.
The Moreno Valley, Calif., native followed that performance up with scoring 11 points – her fifth-straight double-digit outing - in the Bulldogs 69-39 win at Pepperdine University. She hit 4-of-9 from the field, including a season-tying high three 3-pointers. She added three assists and one steal in 26 minutes of action.
Palmer’s play allowed Gonzaga to close out the first half of league action with an 8-1 record and improve its overall mark to 18-3.
