SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Gonzaga and Saint Mary's both sit atop the WCC standings at 6-1. BYU and San Diego are 1.5 games out of first place, while Santa Clara is only two games out. The Gaels visit BYU Thursday night in a pivotal WCC contest that can be seen live on BYUtv at 6 p.m. PST.
WCC QUICK HITS
Gonzaga and Saint Mary's are both 6-1 in conference play. The Bulldogs won 80-46 at Pepperdine in their lone game last week, while the Gaels won both of their games against Bay Area-rivals Santa Clara Thursday and at San Francisco Monday night.
Four WCC teams are currently in the NCAA RPI Top 100: (35) Saint Mary's, (53) Gonzaga, (91) San Diego and (92) BYU.
BYU senior guard Haley Steed leads the NCAA with 7.7 assists per game. She is also third in the nation with a 2.83 assist-to-turnover ratio. Gonzaga's Jazmine Redmon has a 2.36 assist-to-turnover ratio, which ranks 17th in the country.
The February 21st matchup between Gonzaga and Santa Clara will be televised nationally on NBC Sports Network at 6 p.m. PST.
