Gonzaga Surges to Two Shot Lead at the 2015 WCC Championship

SOMIS, Calif. - Gonzaga overcame a six shot deficit and built a two-stroke lead against No. 20 Pepperdine on day two of the 2015 West Coast Conference Golf Championship at the Saticoy Country Club. The No. 50 Bulldogs seek their first-ever conference title but must snap the Waves streak of 13 consecutive championships.

Final round of the 2015 women's #WCCchamps begins Wednesday, April 15 at 8:20 a.m. Gonzaga, Pepperdine and third-place San Francisco are set to go off No. 1 starting at 9:15 a.m. on the demanding par-72 course playing at 6,085 yards.

A runner-up at the championship three of the last four years, Gonzaga is the first team to lead Pepperdine entering the final round since San Francisco accomplished the feat en route to its second title in 2001.

Gonzaga's Ciera Min (+7) fired a 2-under 70 to storm to the top of the individual leaderboard with a 151, one stroke in front of teammate and 2014 WCC medalist Alice Kim (+8) and San Francisco's Emelie Lundstrom. BYU's Alex White (+9) sits in fourth place, followed by Pepperdine's Marissa Chow (+10) and Gonzaga's Han Wu in a share of fifth place. Seven strokes separate first from 12th place.

Gonzaga shot a tournament low round of 304 for a two-day tally of 621 (+45). Pepperdine is second at 623, while San Francisco is third at 626. Santa Clara turned in the second lowest round of championship with a 305 and is in fourth place at 630, while BYU rounds out the field at 640.
