Three WCC Student-Athletes Selected in NWSL College Draft

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Three West Coast Conference student-athletes were selected in Thursday's National Women's Soccer League College Draft in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. BYU had two players selected in Taylor Isom and Nadia Gomes, while 2017 WCC Player of the Year Bri Visalli was Pepperdine's draft pick. 

ROUND 2, PICK 4: TAYLOR ISOM, BYU
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Taylor Isom and Nadia Gomes were selected in the 2018 National Women's Soccer League College Draft on Thursday morning.

After taking two redshirt years due to injuries, Isom stepped in and anchored a strong BYU defense in her four years as a Cougar. In her career, she played 7,311 minutes and started in every contest she played in. She recorded two goals and one assist, while tallying 20 shots. As a senior in 2017, Isom was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy watchlist in preseason and was First Team All-West Coast
Conference. 

ROUND 2, PICK 9: BRI VISALLI, PEPPERDINE

PHILADELPHIA – Pepperdine All-American Bri Visalli was selected in the second round (19th overall) by the Chicago Red Stars in the annual National Women’s Soccer League Draft on Thursday morning.

Visalli’s list of honors from this past season is extensive, earning All-American second team status by United Soccer Coaches in addition to being a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist. Visalli became the first player in Pepperdine history to be named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year, and also picked up All-West Region and All-WCC first team honors.


 

 

ROUND 3, PICK 3: NADIA GOMES, BYU 

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Taylor Isom and Nadia Gomes were selected in the 2018 National Women's Soccer League College Draft on Thursday morning.

Gomes recorded five goals and four assists in 2017. In her career she tallied 23 goals and 23 assists, while taking 217 total shots as she climbed her way into the BYU record book. She was WCC Player of the Year in 2015 and earned All-WCC Honorable Mention in 2017.
