BYU’s Nadia Gomes Named WCC Player of the Week
Senior scored three goals in two games for the Cougars
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Brigham Young senior forward Nadia Gomes has been named the West Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Gomes scored three goals in two games over the past week, helping the Cougars go a perfect 2-0 on the week after beating Kansas 3-2 and Utah Valley 3-0.
Against Kansas, Gomes’s first goal came as she took on multiple defenders and shot to the bottom right corner of the goal to tie the game. Her second goal put the Cougars ahead via penalty kick in the first half before BYU went on to win the game in the 85th minute. In the game against UVU, Gomes scored off a free kick just outside of the 18, curving the ball around the wall and finding the back of the net.
