SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has named its Women's Soccer Player of the Week for October 14, 2013.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JULIE JOHNSTON, SR., MF, SANTA CLARA
Santa Clara senior Julie Johnston is the West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week. Johnston scored the game-winning goal in the Broncos 1-0 shutout victory over San Diego on Thursday. Johnston's goal came in the 31st minute on a slide for a centered ball that bounded into the back of the net. Johnston also provided an assist during the Broncos match against BYU on Saturday. In the 40th minute Johnston's assist helped tie the game at 1-1. The Broncos went on to win 2-1.
Santa Clara is now 8-3-1 overall, and atop the Conference standings with a 2-0-0 WCC record. The Broncos take on Bay Area rivals Saint Mary's and Pacific later this week.
