Two WCC Programs Selected For 2017 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament

SAN BRUNO, Calif.
 – West Coast Conference regular season champion Pepperdine and runner-up Santa Clara have both been selected to participate in the 2017 NCAA Tournament as announced Monday by the national office.

A perennial multi-bid conference, the Waves are making their 10th appearance and the Broncos have earned their 27th berth.

Pepperdine (14-2-3, 8-0-1 WCC) hosts an opening round match for the fifth consecutive NCAA appearance after also hosting in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2016. The Waves have advanced past the first round of the tournament six of the 10 times it has made the postseason and has nine NCAA Tournament wins in its history.

Santa Clara (13-6-1, 8-1-0 WCC), making its 27th NCAA Tournament in the last 29 years, are riding a seven-match winning streak and finished second in the WCC. The Broncos led the conference with 46 goals scored and 127 points and tied for the league lead with 35 assists.

In all, the WCC has made 83 NCAA appearances, culminating in 19 Final Four trips and three national titles. Portland won the College Cup in 2002 and 2005, with Santa Clara winning the title in 2001. Last season, Santa Clara advanced to the national quarterfinal of the NCAA Tournament, falling one game shy of the College Cup, while Pepperdine was a second round participant. BYU also participated in the 2016 tournament and advanced to the their round.
