Pacific, BYU Claim WCC Softball Weekly Honors
Sydney Lahners (UOP) and Arissa Paulson (BYU) are honored
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pacific senior first baseman Sydney Lahnersl and BYU sophomore pitcher Arissa Paulson have been named the West Coast Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Lahners had a tremendous performance over the weekend at the Fresno State Bulldog Classic, tallying 10 hits on 13 at bats and leading the team with 11 RBI, courtesy of three games in which she recorded three or more RBI. Lahners had a slugging percentage of 1.769 and on-base percentage of .737. The senior first baseman hit a total of four home runs for the weekend.
Paulson pitched 18.2 innings over three games for BYU with a 2.41 ERA to earn her first Pitcher of the Week award. She tallied 19 strikeouts while giving up just five earned runs in her contests. She finished with an opposing batting average of .164, scattering just 11 hits over 18.2 innings.
