Saint Mary's, LMU Earn Women's Tennis Weekly Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named Saint Mary’s freshman Mariia Kozyreva the West Coast Conference Women’s Singles Player of the Week and the Loyola Marymount freshman duo of Veronica Miroshnichenko and Eva Marie Voracek the Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.

Kozyreva, the Gaels top singles player, delivered a highlight win Friday afternoon versus defending national champion Florida. Kozyreva clinched her second win of the dual season after beating Anna Danilina in straight-sets 6-4, 6-4. Danilina is currently the No. 9 ranked singles player in the country. She also defeated Kristina Breisacher of UC Davis (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) and finished the week 2-1.

The Lions pair of Miroschnichenko and Voracek went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles to help LMU to a pair of victories against Long Beach State and Nevada. The duo defeated Lena Pacholski and Natalia Munoz (LBSU) on Wednesday, 7-5, before knocking off Nevada's 52nd-ranked Claudia Herrero/Blaga Delic, 6-3.
