SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Pepperdine sophomore Luisa Stefani has been named the 2017 West Coast Conference Player of the Year, teammate Ashley Lahey was named the WCC Freshman of the Year and Waves head coach, Per Nilsson, was selected as the WCC Coach of the Year, the conference office announced Wednesday.

A total of 22 singles student-athletes, and 11 doubles teams were recognized as All-Conference honorees. All three individual awards - along with the All-West Coast Conference Teams - were voted on by the league's 10 head coaches.

Stefani captures her second consecutive WCC Player of the Year nod after the sophomore went 13-3 overall this season at No. 1 singles, including a 5-0 mark against conference competition. Stefani, ranked No. 12 individually in the country, becomes just the fifth student-athlete to win back-to-back WCC Player of the Year honors, joining the likes of Zuzana Lesenarova of San Diego (1998-00), Emma Murphy of San Diego (2004-05), Jenni Heinser of San Francisco (2008-10) and Jenny Jullien of Saint Mary's (2013-14) to become a multiple-award winner.

Lahey had yet another breakout season for a Pepperdine freshman to claim the conference's Freshman of the Year distinction, becoming the third consecutive Wave to take home the honor. Lahey went 13-2 in duals this season, including a perfect 3-0 mark against WCC opposition. Playing at No. 2 singles, Lahey went 12-1 on the year. The California native enters the postseason ranked No. 17 in the latest Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings.

Nilsson guided the Waves to a perfect 9-0 record -- all coming via sweeps -- en route to their sixth consecutive WCC regular season title. It is the third consecutive WCC Coach of the Year honor for the third-year head coach, who sports a 26-1 regular season record against conference competition, including an active stretch of 18 consecutive wins against WCC teams.

The women's teams will kick off the WCC tennis championships on Thursday, April 28 with the first serve at 10 a.m.
