Santa Clara Junior Katie Le is the WCC Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Month

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference is pleased to recognize its November Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Month, Katie Le from Santa Clara University, and Doubles Players of the Month, Lorraine Guillermo and Khunpak Issara from Pepperdine University.
WOMEN'S TENNIS SINGLES PLAYER OF THE MONTH
In the second round, Le battled No. 35 Hanna Mar of Duke. Mar took control early and bested Le 6-1, 6-1. Le is the first Santa Clara women's tennis player to receive a bid to the ITA Indoor championships. Addidtionally, last season Le was the first player to receive an individual bid to the NCAA singles championships. During her two previous seasons Le has amassed a total of 41 wins. She was tabbed as the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year in 2010-11 and last year was First Team All-WCC. During her two previous seasons Le has amassed a total of 41 wins.

WOMEN'S TENNIS DOUBLES PLAYERS OF THE MONTH
Issara/Guillermo won an exciting match against Tennessee's Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely in the semifinals. Although Boren and Szekely were the tournament's No. 2 seed and favorited to move on, Issara and Guillermo powered through to fight off match point and win 9-7. In the semifinals, which transitioned from an eight-game pro-set to a best-of-three sets format, the Waves dropped a close 7-5 decision to Stephanie Nauta and Li Xi of Virginia. With the momentum in their favor, the Cavaliers took set two 6-2 to end the Waves' run. Issara and Guillermo conclude the fall season with a 7-2 record.
