SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- West Coast Conference women's volleyball will start conference play this week on Thursday, September 22. Four matches will take place that evening, while four more are scheduled for Saturday.

  • Seven of nine WCC teams finished non-conference play above .500. However, Portland and Santa Clara, who finished just short of that, closed out the non-conference season with two consecutive wins.

  • San Diego and Pepperdine still remain ranked in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll at No. 16 and 19, respectively. The Toreros went undefeated in non-conference play (13-0, the best start in program history). Pepperdine is currently 6-5 after a tough non-conference schedule.

  • BYU's 10-match win streak was broken by a 3-1 loss to Cal State Fullerton on the road. However, the Cougars came back to win the following day at Cal State Northridge, 3-1, behind Jennifer Hamson's second double-double of the weekend. Hamson threw down 16 kills and 13 digs against CSUN and still leads the conference in kills with 202 this season.

  • After starting out the season with three losses, the San Francisco Dons have come back to put together eight wins over 10 matches to bring their non-conference record to 8-5. The Dons have recently swept four of their last five opponents, including Cal Poly, UNLV and Fresno State.

  • Conference play begins this Thursday at 6:00 PM PT, featured by a showdown between Saint Mary's and BYU, televised on BYUtv. Check out the upcoming schedule for all WCC matches scheduled for Thursday and Saturday.
