SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- West Coast Conference women's volleyball continue conference play this week on Wednesday, October 5 with a televised match between Pepperdine and LMU on ESPNU.
QUICK HITSTwo conference matches will be nationally televised
this week. The showdown between Southern California
rivals Pepperdine and LMU will air Wednesday on ESPNU,
while BYUtv will televise BYU's match against Santa Clara
Pepperdine remains the only unbeaten team in conference
play with a 3-0 record against WCC opponents Portland,
Gonzaga and Saint Mary's. The Waves also remain
ranked at No. 20 in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
Portland snapped San Francisco's five match win streak
with a 3-2 victory at home. The Pilots were led by sophomore
outside hitter Autumn Wedan, who posted a careerhigh
16 kills. This is the third straight time Portland has
beaten San Francisco.
San Diego moved up one spot to No. 17 after posting a
2-0 record this past week to improve to 16-1 overall. The
Toreros picked up 3-0 sweeps over non-conference opponent
UC Irvine and WCC opponent BYU.
Entering the third week of conference play, two schools,
LMU and Pepperdine, will host "DigPink" matches to promote
breast cancer awareness and education.
The LMU-PEP matchup is part of the Wells Fargo PCH Cup
Series, an annual scorecard for the NCAA-sponsored athletic
contests between the two longtime crosstown rivals.
