SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce its September Volleyball Co-Players of the Month, BYU's Jennifer Hamson and Loyola Marymount's Kathleen Luft.

WOMEN'S CO-VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

JENNIFER HAMSON, BYU, JUNIOR, OPPOSITE HITTER
Opposite hitter Jennifer Hamson led BYU to an 11-1 record in September with her 147 kills (3.67 per set). In the team's first match of the month, Hamson tallied 20 kills against No. 24 Colorado State, helping the Cougars to their first win against a top-25 team. She also hit double figures in kills against No. 14 Pepperdine in BYU's first conference match of the season.

Hamson had one double-double in September, recording 15 kills and 11 digs against Portland State to help the Cougars win the BYU Nike Invitational. She also tallied a career-high nine blocks against San Francisco while contributing nine kills and 10 digs. With the nine blocks, Hamson totaled 46 blocks on the month. Hamson was named MVP of two of the team's three invitationals played in September and was named to the all-tournament team in the third. She also earned one WCC Player of the Week award for her performance in the BYU Nike Invitational, her second such award of the season.

KATHLEEN LUFT, LOYOLA MARYMOUNT, JUNIOR, OUTSIDE HITTER
Outside hitter Kathleen Luft collected a team-best 179 kills at a rate of 4.16 per set over 11 matches during the month of September. Luft hit .252 while serving up seven aces and posting 99 digs (2.30 ps). On the block, the native of Thousand Oaks posted two block solos and 21 block assists for an average of 0.53 blocks per set. She posted five double-doubles, including teaming 22 kills with 10 digs against Virginia Tech on September 7. Highlights of the month included hitting .390 (19 kills on 41 swings with three errors) at High Point University on September 8, career-best 23 kills against No. 16 San Diego on September 27, and three aces against George Mason on September 8. Luft was named to the All-Tournament team in all four tournaments this year (three tournaments included matches in September).
