Bulldogs Volleyball Falls At Idaho
Oct. 5, 2005 MOSCOW, Ida. - Three Gonzaga University players finished with double digit kills on Tuesday night but it was not enough to overcome a strong hitting effort by the University of Idaho as the host Vandals slipped by Gonzaga (9-8) in four games. Idaho (9-7) won 30-19, 25-30, 30-25, 30-27 to win their 10th straight over the Bulldogs. Becky Jones continued her hot hitting for the Bulldogs as she finished with 15 kills. Freshman Michelle Boevers followed with 13 and Briawna Mueller was the most effective GU hitter with 10 kills and a .455 attack percentage. Gonzaga was limited to only 51 kills during the match as the hit only .175 as a team. Idaho registered 66 kills with Haley Larsen leading the way with 20 kills. Idaho hit over .295 in the three matches they won finishing with a .244 clip for the match. Meghan Brown added 12 kills with Sarah Loney adding 10. Jessica Herrera had 13 digs for Gonzaga which was out dug by the Vandals, marking the first time in the last five matches that Gonzaga had not finished with more digs than its opponent. Meghan Brown led the way with 18 digs for UI. Gonzaga will return to action this weekend with a pair of West Coast Conference road matches at No. 14 Santa Clara on Friday and No. 15 San Diego on Saturday. The Bulldogs are 1-0 in WCC play after last Saturday's five-game win over Portland.
