Oct. 30 --The No. 13 Pepperdine women's volleyball team used a balanced offensive attack led by sophomore outside hitter Katie Wilkins' match-high 16 kills to sweep No. 8 UCLA in three games Tuesday night at Firestone in Fieldhouse in Malibu.
The Waves won by scores of 30-25, 30-25, 34-32 to improve to 16-3 overall and record their sixth straight win. The win also improved Pepperdine's home mark on the season to 11-0.
UCLA dropped to 11-6 on the year.
Joining Wilkins with double-digit kill totals were freshman outside hitter Brie Harris (14 kills, 10 digs) and junior middle blocker Stacy Rouwenhorst, who totaled 12 kills and posted a .647 hitting percentage.
The Waves hit an impressive .392 for the match, while UCLA posted a .225 hitting mark.
Trailing 24-27 in Game Three, Pepperdine rallied to register a 34-32 win.
Senior outside hitter Ashley Bowles and junior outside hitter Lauren Fendrick led the Bruins with 14 kills apiece, while junior middle blocker Angela Eckmier tallied 12 kills and hit .556.
