WCC Announces 2017 Volleyball All-Academic Team

Nov. 29, 2017

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce the 2017 West Coast Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team. The group is headlined by a pair of student-athletes earning all-academic honors for the third straight year.

San Diego senior and 2017 WCC Player of the Year Kirsten Gengenbacher (3.90 GPA, Communications and Theology & Religious Studies) and Santa Clara senior Kirsten Mead (3.91, Economics) appear on the WCC All-Academic Team for the third time. Three student-athletes make their second consecutive appearance on the squad: Saint Mary’s Lindsey Calvin and Lindsey Knudsen and Portland’s Lauren Naatz.

This season, 24 nominated volleyball student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.50 or better while 10 recorded a mark of 3.75 or higher.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
