SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has announced its Men’s Cross Country All-Academic Team for the 2018 season, encompassing WCC student-athletes who excelled this year both on the course and in the classroom.

Six WCC institutions were represented across the board on the All-Academic Team, showcased by No. 2 BYU and No. 5 Portland with three student-athletes each.

This year’s squad features two repeat appearances, BYU’s Clayton Young and Pepperdine’s Nick Heath, who picked up his third consecutive All-Academic honor with a 3.99 GPA. Eight runners are also making their All-Academic debuts, including WCC individual champion Nick Hauger of Portland.

Seven All-Academic runners crossed the line in Provo in the top 20 with three of those earning First Team All-WCC honors by virtue of top-10 finishes.

A WCC-record 31 student-athletes in all achieved a GPA over 3.5, of which 16 reached the 3.75 mark.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
