SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference announced its 2017-18 Softball All-Academic Team. This season, eight honorees turned in a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
San Diego and Santa Clara led the way with four student-athletes represented on the team, followed by Brigham Young with three, Pacific and Saint Mary's with two and Loyola Marymount with one to round out the 16 spots on the All-Academic Team.
Multi-year recipients for academic achievement include a three-time selection in Pacific's Molly Bourne in addition to two-time selections in Loyola Marymount's Lindsey Matoi, Saint Mary's Katlyn Whitt, San Diego's Shannon McKeon and Taylor Spence and Santa Clara's Kelsie Barnard.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC- sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
